Strategic Plan 2008

At its March meeting, the Lincolnwood School District 74 Board of Education, unanimously approved the new strategic plan for our district. The strategic plan was drafted by a group of 57 community members, parents, faculty and staff members and partners from our village officials. The group met in early February to review progress over the past year and to design new goals for the upcoming year.

The four Strands of the strategic plan are:

  • Academic Success
  • Safe and Secure
  • Efficient and Effective Operations and
  • Positive School Climate and Community Connections

I am very proud of the commitment and dedication of our teams as we have seen many accomplishments as well as establishing a solid plan for the future.

The goals of the strategic plan that were approved by the school board include:

1. By June 2009, given our grade level standards and common assessments, 60% of students will meet expectations and 30% of students will exceed expectations. The remaining 10% of students will demonstrate (read/write/say/perform) progress.

2. Develop curricula for safety and wellness K-8 by February 2009.

3. When given a survey in January 2009, respondents will indicate an average of 10% increase in satisfaction with communication internally and externally within our school district.

4. To develop a positive school climate and stronger community connections, we will develop and implement 4 specific strategies to welcome and inform students, parents, staff, and residents by Fall 2008.

I am very excited about the future of our excellent school district. This strong plan will provide guidance as we move to always improve the quality of education for our students and learning community as a whole.
