Adding Streaming Video to the Site

Individual user can upload video to the site which can then be viewed on the site (without having to download the file). Not all users can add video. If you get an "access denied" error when trying to upload video, contact MJ Warden.

The main difference with adding video is that it will NOT automatically appear in your blog page (if you are a teacher). So, you'll be uploading and creating a new video entry (in the first part) and then linking to it from your blog page in the second part.

Adding Video (Part I)

  1. Click Add Video
  2. Give your entry a title
  3. Click on the Browse button in the Upload Video section and locate your video file on your machine
  4. Enter the dimensions - I'd recommend no larger than 320 wide by 240 tall
  5. Enter the file size (or 0 if you're linking to a file on Google Video or YouTube)
  6. Enter the approximate total number of seconds for your video file
  7. Add a text description, instructions, or other notes in the Body section
  8. Click Submit and your video will be uploaded to the site

Linking Your Video to Your Blog (Part II)

  1. Now that you've uploaded a video to the site, make a note of the URL (the Web address) at the top of your browser.
  2. Click the Add a New Entry to your Personal Home Page/Blog (as you normally do)
  3. Select the category "video" from the drop down list
  4. Add a Title (it could be the same as you used in part I) and a Body section for the post
  5. In the Body section of your new blog post, type in the URL of your video (from step 1 above) and make that a link by clicking on the Insert Link button in the toolbar.
  6. Click submit and your new blog post will be created with a link to your video.
