My name is Karlene Stecher and I teach 8th Grade STEM here at Lincoln Hall Middle School.
This is my 30th year as a state certified science teacher and my 7th year as a National Board Certified Science Teacher. I have taught science at all grade levels, and am passionate about integrating the subjects of chemistry, physics, and biology into the processes of engineering and technological design in my STEM program.
Our hands-on project based class begins with discovering the structure and function of robotic systems and the increasing role robots play in our lives. Next we become medical detectives and study human biology and forensics. Our last unit is all about energy and our environment.
On a personal note I have been married to my husband Andy since 1988 and we have two children. Our son recently finished college with degrees in International Business and Accounting. Our daughter Katharine is a high school senior. On August 14th her team's experiment, designed through a STEM program she participated in, took off on a SpaceX rocket and is now being conducted on the International Space Station!
