Welcome to the Lincolnwood School District 74 Website,
The school district is preparing to kick off the 75th year of the doors opening in the Lincolnwood schools. The entire year will have a theme of celebrating 75 years of educating the children of Lincolnwood. To kick off the year we are thrilled to host SD74 alumni Judge Merrick Garland (Lincoln Hall Class of 1966) on Friday, August 31 at Lincoln Hall. The year will also begin with the launch of a new logo, an updated community newsletter, The Jaguar, and the development of a future strategic plan. Please look for an invitation to get involved in the planning events for the next strategic plan. This will provide a community voice relative to the direction that you wish the District to focus on for the next few years.
The 2018-19 school year will also begin the final year of the five year strategic plan. The five goals and accompanied objectives designed as the roadmap have been progressing nicely throughout the last four years. The District has continued to work towards improved academic performance, goal area one. Through curriculum implementation, we continue to teach communication, collaboration, leadership, curiosity, and perseverance. We utilize curriculum to build these skills in our students. Staff development and professional development, goal area five, has partnered with curriculum redesign. Promoting the health and well-being of students, goal area two, has been an ongoing goal and we continue to provide more opportunities for children, including the new fitness center and the addition of several extracurricular activities and partnerships with the Lincolnwood Parks & Recreation Department. Reaching out to the community, goal area three, has been an action item that continues to build community relationships. We hope to see many of you at the 75th kick off event on August 31, featuring our keynote speaker Judge Merrick Garland. Parent Education Nights will once again be featured throughout the school year and are open to the community.
The development of safe and efficient facilities, goal area four, will move forward, following the newly created master facilities plan. Consistently keeping the campus updated and functional using proactive maintenance structures will continue to guide the District. The District will also host an Open House to mark the completion of Lincoln Hall Phase III in November or December. This final phase will result in an auditorium, providing a performance space for children involved in the fine arts in addition to curriculum connections.
Together as one learning community,
Dr. Kimberly Nasshan
