• Understanding RtI (Response to Intervention)

Our classrooms are filled with students who show progress and promise each year. Still, in every school across the nation, there are students who struggle to learn. Educators, researchers, and policy makers have long searched for the best ways to help these students. Federal laws, including No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) and the Individuals with Disabilities Eduction Act (IDEA 2004) are designed to guide school districts in supporting students who struggle with general education curriculum and instruction. More recently, the focus has shifted to a research-based approach called Response to Intervention (RtI). Developing a sound K-8 RtI framework is on the district's current priorities.
