• Fall Fun

This week in speech we talked about everything Fall! We discussed what fall looks, smells and feels like.  When the season changes it is a great opportunity for you to go for a nature walk with your child and discuss what looks, smells and feels different!   Our younger students read the book Clifford's First Autumn, and discussed the different Fall activities that Clifford likes to do during the season.  He enjoyed going to the park, buying apples and pumpkins at the market, and playing football with his friends.  You can practice action words with your child while discussing their favorite Fall activities.

Our older students read Amelia Bedelia's First Apple Pie.  We discussed the different steps we need to take to take to make an apple pie.  Baking is a great way to practice sequencing, action words and following directions.  Enjoy exploring the new season with your child while incorporating language!

Welcome back to the 2016-2017 school year! We are already off to a great start in speech! I am so happy to see so many of my old friends from last year and meet so many new students this year! Throughout the year I will be sharing various speech resources and tips that can provide you with ideas for how to practice what we are working on in speech in your own home.

Play-Based Therapy is one of the many ways that we can incorporate speech and language goals in a fun and meaningful way for students.  Check out this great handout from Super Duper all about Play-Based Therapy. Play-Based Therapy
