Mrs. Kalter

Hi! I'm Mrs. Kalter, the English as a Second Language Teacher at Lincoln Hall. I also work part time as the EL Teacher at Rutledge Hall. This is my 29th year teaching in Lincolnwood and I have enjoyed every minute. I graduated from the University of Illinois in 1987 and received a Master's Degree from National Lewis University in 1994. I became interested in educating children from other lands when I got my first job out of college. I was an instructional assistant in a middle school and the district got an influx of students from other countries whose parents worked for the same candy company. I worked with students from Japan, China, Korea, and Germany. They didn't understand each other and I couldn't understand each of them. They had to learn English! That became my focus and goal for that school year. By June, the students were telling me what they were doing for the summer and were actually communicating well with me and each other in ENGLISH!! I have been loving it ever since. My hobbies include watching sports, traveling and cooking.
