Mrs. Wendy Kotrba

Mrs. Kotrba has been a middle school teacher since 1984.  She started her career in the Chicago Public Schools, then moved to Lincolnwood District 74 to teach the 5th through 8th grade Gifted Program.  She eventually became a 6-8 Language Arts and Reading teacher, and later took the position of the 6th grade ancient history Social Studies teacher.  Her main interests are geography and how it affects human behavior, and artifacts and how they give us clues about peoples' past.  She loves when students learn about their personal history through topics covered in class.  Her favorite museum is the Field Museum, with The Oriental Institute being a close second.  She is a member of the Field Museum Ambassador Program which trains teachers to promote the use of the museum.  She also serves on the Teacher Advisory Council of The Oriental Institute, which has a similar mission of promoting that museum's programs and outreach.

A native Chicagoan, her son, a political and community activist, is at Vanderbilt University.  Her daughter is an Industrial Engineer for Johnson Controls in Milwaukee.  Her husband manages the BookMarket in Glenview.  Her favorite pet is her bearded dragon named Lucy.
