Mrs. May's Message

Hello! I'm Mrs. May.  This is my 18th year of teaching in District #74.  I have enjoyed teaching 5th grade for 15 of those years.  I have three grown children and three adorable grandsons.  My family is the joy of my life!

I am very excited about my class this year, they are a wonderful bunch. I can already see how enthusiastic they are to learn. We are going to have a fantastic year together!

Here are a few things I’d like to tell you:

1.) I am available here at school from about 7:30 until about 3:30 p.m. on most days. I can be reached by phone at (847) 675-8236 (ext. 3825) or by e-mail at Please feel free to call or write me if you have any questions or concerns or just want to say hello.

2.) We will take a few minutes each morning to have a healthy snack, since our lunch is later at 12:00 p.m. Please send fruit, veggies, or Rold Gold  pretzels (in packaging please!) only with your child each day if you feel he or she would like a snack. Children may not bring sweet or salty snacks. Each child is responsible for bringing his or her own daily healthy snack.

3.) Most students will use Google Calendar on their iPad to get and check their assignments, OR your child’s assignment notebook can come home so you can see the assignments.

4.) School begins at 8:00 a.m. each morning. Promptness is related to school success. However, for safety reasons your child should not arrive before 7:45 a.m.  School is 8:00 to 2:45 every day.

5.) Our class specials this year are as follows: Mondays-Art, Tuesdays-P.E & STEM, Wednesdays-Music & P.E., Thursdays-Library, and Fridays- Music & P.E.

Thank you so much for your cooperation in these matters. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to email or call me.
