On Thursday, March 9, 2017, Lincoln Hall received a letter from Notre Dame College Prep in Niles regarding three student achievements acknowledgements. Notre Dame College Prep wanted to notify the District that three of our Alumni achieved Summa Cum Laude honor roll status in the 2016-17 academic year.Summa Cum Laude at the school is awarded when students obtain a GPA of 3.80 or better with no grade lower than a C-.Congratulations to Emmett O'Malley, Kenneth Such, and Domingo Such on their outstanding academic accomplishment.February 8, 2017
On Saturday, February 4, 2017, Niles West’s a cappella groups made their way over to South Milwaukee Performing Arts Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to compete in the International Competition of High School A Cappella Quarterfinals. The a cappella groups - Echo Effect, Guys & Dolls, and High Fidelity - won every single individual award and won overall, too.

Lincolnwood School District 74 is proud to acknowledge that three of the “rising senior debaters” in the United States are SD74 Alumni. The J.W. Patterson Foundation for Academic Excellence in Speech and Debate, in agreement with the Regents of the University of Michigan, will be providing large tuition scholarships for twelve of the top rising senior debaters in the country. Debaters will attend the seven week program held at the University of Michigan. Two Lincoln Hall graduates, Elizabeth Bennett and Nasim Salehitezangi, are J.W. Patterson fellows. Elizabeth and Nasim will join another SD74 Alum, Faith Geraghty, who was a J.W. Patterson fellow herself in 2015. Keep up the good work, all! There is no greater reward than seeing our very own students excel above and beyond.

SD74 Alum George Panoutsos (Lincoln Hall Class of 2013) is giving back to his home District and we are glad to have him back. George has dedicated some of his free time in mentoring students in Lincoln Hall’s Robotics Team.
Members of the team have visited Niles West High School to watch the high school’s Robotics Team compete. Lincoln Hall Robotics Team is also preparing for their first competition, scheduled to take place in February.
“George has become a mentor for these kids. He has visited us multiple times and the students really look up to him,” stated Karlene Stecher, Robotics Team sponsor.
It is always nice to see former students back in our buildings.
Thank you, George, for your time and mentorship. SD74 is proud!

Atorena Michael is an ISCC All-Conference player, who is running the Oakton Owls offense as point guard. She averaged 7.5 points and 4.9 boards last season. Great job, Atorena!

Lincolnwood School District 74 is proud to acknowledge that 5 of the Niles West Girls Volleyball Team players are Lincoln Hall graduates. The team took 4th place at State this year. Our very own Lincoln Hall graduate Bianca Tomuta was recognized as being a great help in winning Regionals. Check out the Chicago Tribune article HERE.

Lincoln Hall graduate Emily Silber has earned the designation of National Speech & Debate Association Academic All-American. She has served as Co-Captain of the Niles West Debate Team for the 2016-17 school year. Some of Emily's accomplishments include earning an unweighted GPA of at least a 3.7 on a 4.0 scale and demonstrating outstanding character and leadership.
Way to go, Emily! Keep up the good work.

At the Village of Lincolnwood Board Meeting that was held on June 21, 2016, Mayor Turry acknowledged 35 of our Lincolnwood students, from the high school Class of 2016, for being Illinois State Scholars. Mayor Turry proclaimed Tuesday, June 21st as “Student Achievers’ Day!” Congratulations to all of our student achievers.

Congrats to the 2015-16 Niles West Boys' Gymnastic team for capturing the 2016 IHSA State Championship this past Friday evening at Hinsdale Central High School. The team won the school's first state championship in nearly 40 years. Four Lincolnwood School District 74 alums were on this winning team: Rishi Bhingradia, Mitchell Byron, Henry Ly, and David Thai. Great job!

Congratulations to our own District 74 Alum, Mara Kosir, who is featured in Crain's Chicago Business "20 in Their 20's!" As quoted online in Crain Communications Inc., "20 in Their 20's are this year's rising stars that come from an eclectic mix of fields and have found success before the age of 30. They share one trait: passion. They are curious, ambitious, and care deeply about the world around them."Mara is a Civil Engineer right here in Chicago and her domain is the Chicago area's transportation network. She has plotted out how to make the Blue Line operate better, worked on the lakefront path flyover near Navy Pier, and helped prep the Wilson Station rebuild in Uptown. A former District 74 student, Maya Schenwar, will be at a Book Event at the Evanston Public Library on March 7th at 7:00 p.m. Maya grew up in Lincolnwood and attended both District 74 and 219. Maya is an author and will be sharing her most recent book, Locked Down, Locked Out: Why Prison Doesn’t Work and How We Can Do Better. Maya is Editor-in-Chief of Truthout, an independent social justice news website. She has also written about the prison-industrial complex for The NY Times, The Guardian, and Ms. Magazine. In addition, she was the recipient of a Society of Professional Journalists Sigma Chi Award and a Lannan Residency Fellowship for her writing on prisons.

Barb Pabst, a current resident/SD74 parent, and an alumnus of the Lincolnwood schools, was recently voted into the Niles West Hall of Fame. She was an outstanding athlete at Niles West, and continues to use her skills to help students at the high school. Congratulations to you, Barb!
