Rutledge Hall principal recognized as one of just seven finalists statewide for her outstanding impact on school leadership

Lincolnwood School District 74 is proud to announce that Dr. Aliaa Ibrahim, principal of Rutledge Hall, has been selected as one of seven 2026 finalists for the prestigious Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Leadership. The announcement was made by The Golden Apple Foundation, the leading nonprofit dedicated to preparing, honoring, and supporting outstanding educators who advance educational opportunities for students.

The Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Leadership specifically honors principals and heads of Pre-K through 12th-grade schools who have demonstrated exemplary leadership, created inclusive school cultures, and driven dramatic student growth through sustained impact. A highly competitive selection process identified the seven finalists from nearly 100 nominations statewide. 

“This recognition is deeply humbling,” Dr. Ibrahim said. “I believe strongly in the power of school communities to change lives and shape students’ trajectories, and I am grateful to serve alongside a team committed to growth, equity, and excellence for every child. Rutledge Hall’s success is built on shared leadership and a culture where adults and students alike feel seen, valued, and capable of thriving.”

Since becoming principal of Rutledge Hall in 2022, Dr. Ibrahim has led with vision and heart, fostering an inclusive, high-achieving environment where every student is nurtured to thrive. Under her leadership, the school has strengthened academic programs, deepened staff collaboration, and expanded meaningful opportunities for student success.

Her recognition as a Golden Apple finalist is a testament to her exceptional leadership and the lasting impact she continues to make in preparing, inspiring, and empowering the Rutledge Hall community.

Finalists move on to the last stage of the competition: an on-site visit from the Golden Apple selection committees. Recipients of the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Leadership will be chosen and celebrated at the annual Golden Apple Awards event later this spring. Each will receive a $10,000 award, half of which will be allocated to fund a school project or initiative. They will also join the Golden Apple Academy of Educators, a distinguished network of leaders who mentor the next generation of educators.
