Pre-K at Todd Hall

Program Information

At Todd Hall, the play-based Pre-K program supports the whole child, focusing on academic, social-emotional, and motor development. Learning experiences align with the Illinois Early Learning and Development Standards (IELDS) and are organized around engaging, theme-based units.
 
Pre-K curriculum incorporates Learning Without Tears’ Get Set for School. This school-readiness program builds foundational skills in writing, reading, and math. Additionally, the Preschool Life Skills (PLS) program helps children develop the social skills they need for a successful year in Pre-K.
 
Age Requirement
Pre-K is open to students ages 3 and 4. Students must be three years old by September 1 of the current school year and may attend the program for up to two years.
 
Sessions
Two enrollment sessions are available: AM or PM. Enrollment in both sessions is unavailable.
  • AM Pre-Kindergarten meets from 8:25 a.m. to 11:10 a.m.
  • PM Pre-Kindergarten meets from 12:10 p.m. to 2:55 p.m.
Tuition
Annual tuition: $3,200 (residents), $3,500 (non-residents)
Registration for non-residents opens in June of each year.
 
Tuition is paid in quarterly installments of $800 (residents) or $875 (non-residents). Payments are due at registration and on September 1, December 1, and March 1. Registration is first-come, first-served. Paying the first tuition installment will hold your spot. You can make tuition payments through the District Web Store.
 
Bus Service
Free bus service is available for all Pre-K students. Learn more about the District's bus services.
 

Preparing for Pre-K

Parents can help prepare students for Pre-K by encouraging independence at home. Practice having them ask for help when needed, try new things, make simple choices, follow routines, and take care of personal belongings. Pre-K students should also be able to manage basic toileting needs independently, including using the toilet, undressing and redressing, and washing their hands. These everyday skills help them feel confident, capable, and ready to learn.
 

A Day in Pre-K

Each day in Pre-K offers opportunities to learn, play, explore, and build independence. A typical day includes circle time, hands-on learning centers, table activities, snack time, outdoor play, and Specials such as music, library, and STEM. 
 
Pre-K students enjoy two field trips each year and welcome community visitors such as the Lincolnwood Fire Department and the Lincolnwood Public Library. As an important part of the Todd Hall school community, Pre-K students also participate in all-school assemblies and activities.
 
Special events throughout the year, such as Family Game Night in October, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and the Spring Sing music show in May, offer additional opportunities for students to showcase their learning and growth and for families to connect with the school community.
 
What to Wear
Students may get messy while learning and playing, so comfortable, play-friendly clothing is encouraged. Outdoor play is also an important part of the day year-round, so students should dress for the weather, including winter gear (hats, gloves, snow pants, snow boots, etc.) when appropriate. 
 
What to Bring
Students should bring a labeled backpack large enough to hold a folder, a labeled water bottle, and a change of clothes in a labeled bag. No additional school supplies are needed. Todd Hall also provides nut-free, dairy-free snacks daily.
