Nursery Rhymes

This week we read, acted out and sang many popular nursery rhymes.  We enjoyed Humpty Dumpty, Hey Diddle Diddle, Jack Be Nimble, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Little Miss Muffet.  The children looked for rhyming words in each poem.  We also made our own class book in which we jumped over a candlestick.  On Thursday we had our March PBIS celebration. The children were able to turn in the Todd Tickets they have earned to get a prize.  On Friday we got a special extra long recess to celebrate all of the big Todd Tickets we have earned this trimester. The children are doing a great job following the rules and earning lots of tickets.

In our reading lessons this week, we talked about the letters in our friend’s names.  We also looked for letters in common signs, like stop signs. We used some special chalkboards to write our letters.  In our math lessons, we continued talking about measurement. We talked about area and how we can draw a picture to help us solve a problem.  In our writing lessons we practiced writing the letters D, P and B.

It was great meeting with you for parent-teacher conferences.  Thank you for taking the time to come in to school.

I hope everyone has a wonderful spring break!  Enjoy the time off with your family. When we come back on April 1st we will be talking all about Spring.
