Happy April!  This week was all about looking for signs of spring.  We talked about the changes we will see outside, like the trees growing buds and the grass turning green.  We also talked about how the weather will change with warmer days, lots of rain showers and more windy days.  On Monday we talked about April Fools Day. We made a duck/rabbit after reading the book Duck! Rabbit! By Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenheld.  We even tried to trick the children by giving them ‘brown Es’ for snack.  They did not think this was very funny. Other books we enjoyed this week were When Spring Comes by Kevin Henkes, Rain by Peter Spier, and Umbrella by Taro Yashima.  The children made umbrellas, marble painted big raindrops and made rainbow wind catchers.  Next week we will be talking about bugs and insects we will be seeing now that it is spring.

In our reading lessons this week, we talked about the beginning sounds in words.  We made silly names by changing the first sound and made some tongue twisters we tried to repeat quickly.  In our math lessons, we learned how we can collect data and make a graph. In our writing lessons we practiced recognizing letters by drawing them with a flashlight and creating our own stories with picture cards.

Just a reminder...there is no school for afternoon pre-k this Friday, April 12th.
