Earth Day, Every day!

This week we learned all the things we can do to help our planet Earth.  We learned that even little things like picking up trash, turning off the lights and water, and planting flowers can help.  We enjoyed the books Earth Day by Todd Parr and Long Live Earth by Meighan Morrison.  We made some Earth suncatchers and painted with some recycled items like bottles, caps and paper towel tubes.  We also read Rain Fish by Lois Ehlert and made some fish out of recycled items.  We learned how a plant grows and set up some seed experiments to see the process for ourselves.  Next week we will be talking about healthy foods.

In our reading lessons this week, we reviewed rhyming words.  We also made connections between two books. We practiced recognizing the lowercase letters by playing lowercase limbo. In our math lessons, we reviewed the shapes.   In our writing lessons we practiced writing the letter M. We also learned how to make a diamond.

We have begun practicing for our upcoming Spring Sing on May 10th.  The children are very excited to have you come to school and see them perform.  We hope you will all be able to make it! The morning show will be at 10:15 and the afternoon show will be at 1:45.
