Healthy Habits

This week we learned about how we can be healthy.  We read a nonfiction book about healthy food. We also enjoyed the books Growing Vegetable Soup and Eating the Alphabet  by Lois Ehlert.  We ‘cut’ up some vegetables we like and put them in our pretend soup.  We also cut out pictures from newspaper ads and sorted them into healthy and not healthy groups.  The final book we read this week was The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear by Don and Audrey Wood. The children then painted some seeds on to strawberries.  We loved the apples you sent in for snack and it was perfect for our healthy week! We also had fun wearing our shirts backwards.

In our reading lessons this week, we reviewed the lowercase letters.  We found words that started with the letter card I held up. We also incorporated writing into play by setting up a grocery store in our dramatic play area.  The children made lists of things they wanted to shop for in the store. In our writing lessons we practiced writing the letter N and the number 8.

We have been practicing for our upcoming Spring Sing on May 10th.  The children are very excited to have you come to school and see them perform.  We hope you will all be able to make it! The morning show will be at 10:15 and the afternoon show will be at 1:45.
