This week we continued our winter discussion by learning about snowflakes. We talked about how most snowflakes have 6 points but no 2 are alike. The children made some snowflakes by cutting paper and painted some with stencils. Unfortunately it was too cold this week to go outside to look at some real snowflakes. Instead we brought some snow inside and played with it at the water table. We also connected this study to our math lessons by looking for patterns in the snowflakes. Some of the books we enjoyed this week were Snowflakes Are Falling, I Love Snow by Hans Wilhem, and The First Day of Winter by Denise Fleming.
For the next two weeks we will be talking about the ocean and the beach.
