This week we read many different Pete the Cat stories by Eric Litwin. We love these stories because many of them have catchy songs too. The children practiced colors with I Love My White Shoes, counted backwards with Four Groovy Buttons, and made predictions with Rocking in My School Shoes. We even read a story about when Pete was just a kitty called Pete the Kitty and the Groovy Playdate. The children marble painted some shoes to help retell the white shoes story. They also had the chance to paint with some real shoes and make a button bracelet. We had our first chance to use our iPads this week too. The children had fun exploring some fun new games.
In our math lessons we continued learning about different attributes. This week we focused on using shapes to describe objects. In our writing lessons we continued to work with our wood pieces (big line, small line, big curve and small curve) that we will use to make letters and shapes later this year. We practiced different position (above, below, between, etc.) words by moving our big lines around our bodies.
Next week we'll be learning about apples. We will talk about how they grow and even to do some taste tests. We will also begin our STEM science class with Mrs. Joe.
