Mo Willems!

This week we had so much fun reading many books by Mo Willems.  Some of our favorites included, Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, Pigeon Needs a Bath, Leonardo the Terrible Monster, What’s your Sound, Hound the Hound, and Should I Share My Ice Cream?  We learned how to use our glue sticks by making a monster, how to watercolor paint by making pigeons, and how to rip paper by making a bus.  The children really enjoyed playing with the stuffed animal characters of Pigeon, Elephant, Piggie and Knuffle Bunny.

Next week we will be talking about colors and what happens when we mix them together.

Curriculum Lessons and Topics:

Math: Our lessons focused on the concept of same and different.  We also practiced counting.

Handwriting/Reading: We introduced the children to the wood pieces - big line, small line, big curve and small curve.  We will use them to build letters, numbers and shapes throughout the year.  We practiced saying hello to our friends and listening for sounds.

STEM: Mr. Edman used the Mo Willems book, Pigeon Will Ride the Roller Coaster!   He then challenged the students to use ramps and tubes to make their own roller coaster.  They were very creative.
