Transportation

This week we talked about all kinds of transportation - how we get from one place to another place.  On Monday we read the book Cars Galore by Peter Stein.  We then used some of our cars to paint some tire tracks.  On Tuesday we read the book Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems.  One of our favorites!  We then made some buses but we did not let pigeon drive them.  On Wednesday we read the book Mat Man on the Go.  We used our big lines, small lines and curves to create Mat Man at the rug.  We also decorated some hot air balloons. On Thursday we read the book Red Light, Green Light  by Yumi Heo.  We talked about the signs we may see when we are driving around and then made our own stop signs.  On Friday we took an airplane trip to Todd Hall! All week the children played with large construction trucks, small trucks and gravel, and trains.

In our writing lessons the children practiced building Mat Man.  It helps the children learn how to draw a person. In our math lessons we continued to work on sorting objects by a common attribute, such as color or shape.  We even introduced the idea of sorting by 2 attributes. In our reading lessons we talked about the special letter that begins each of our names. We also listened for words that were the same and different.

Next week we will be talking about community helpers.  We have some visits planned from people in our community who help us.
