Hibernation
This week we learned all about how animals are getting ready for the winter. We talked about how some animals adapt, some migrate and others hibernate. We had so much fun on Friday during our hibernation day. The children looked so cozy in their pajamas and we had a special snack. Some of the books we enjoyed this week were Bear Snores On and Hibernation Station. Mrs. Gussis introduced us to the artist Kent Paulette. He liked to explore nature and then paint what he saw. The children then recreated his famous painting of a blue bear.
Next week we will be focusing on the theme of fairy tales.
Curriculum Lessons and Topics:
Math: This week we matched shapes of different sizes.
Handwriting/Reading: This week we focused on the letter T. We talked about words that begin with this sound, such as turtle and two. We learned how to write the letter and practiced making it with our wood pieces. We also practiced retelling a story by using puppets and props.
STEM: Mr. Edman did a lesson on hibernation and migration. The children then had to use a variety of materials to build a cave for bear to hibernate in.
