Winter Wonderland!
Last week we talked all about winter. Maybe we talked a little too much and brought in all this snow and cold! We started the week by celebrating the new year with a special countdown. We read the book The Mitten by Jan Brett and then children practiced retelling the story by making their own mittens and animals. Later in the week we read another version of the classic tale and compared them. On Thursday, we had a visit from Ms. Dylan from the Lincolnwood Library. She read us 4 fractured fairy tales and sang some songs. Make sure to stop by the library and say hi to her.
This week we will continue our winter theme by talking about snow and snowmen.
Curriculum Lessons and Topics:
Math: This week we practiced more sorting. We used one attribute, such as color, shape and number of holes, to sort some plastic buttons.
Handwriting/Reading: We completed the letter page for C this week and talked about words that begin with this sound, like cat and car.
STEM: Mr. Edman helped us make a fun slingshot this week. The children had so much fun popping pom poms around our class.
