Apples, Apples Everywhere!

Apples, Apples, Everywhere!

Red, yellow, green…which apple type is your favorite?  This week we had fun exploring, graphing, tasting, baking and even painting with…APPLES!

We read various books about apples this week:  “A to Z Apples”, “The Biggest Apple Ever”, “Johnny Appleseed” and “Ten Apples Up on Top”.

To add some fun to our apple theme week, we tried to see if we could balance ‘ten apples’ on the tops of our heads, too, using bean bags. That was a lot of fun!  We played a fun apple alphabet seek and find game, we taste-tested and then graphed our favorite apple – red, green, or yellow.  Red was the most popular in both classes!  We even helped baked apple muffins this week.  We loved our muffins!

For Math this week, we talked about alike and different and sorting things by attributes. Additionally, we learned how to properly hold a crayon so that we can begin to write in our schoolbooks. This week we are practicing our strokes and perfecting our grips.  We will be gradually moving towards letter formation in the upcoming weeks.

I would also like to thank all of the parents who purchased books through scholastic book clubs.  I processed all orders and was notified that the order shipped yesterday.  Children love picking out and reading books through the book clubs. Thank you for supporting our class and your child’s love of reading!
