Notice of Record Destruction

BOARD OF EDUCATION OF LINCOLNWOOD SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 74, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS

 

DESTRUCTION OF RECORDS NOTICE

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN BY the Board of Education of Lincolnwood School District No. 74, Cook County, Illinois, that, in accordance with the federal Family Educational Rights and Policy Act (“FERPA”), the Illinois School Student Records Act (105 ILCS 10/1), the Illinois Local Records Act (50 ILCS 205/1), and the corresponding regulations, the School District intends to proceed with the secure destruction of certain records.

 

Student “permanent” records are retained for 60 years after the student has transferred, graduated, or withdrawn from the District. Student “temporary” records are retained for five (5) years after the student has transferred, graduated or withdrawn from the District. A student’s parent/guardian, or the student themselves if they are at least 18 years of age at the time of the request, may request a copy of their records at any time prior to the date of destruction.

 

The District intends to destroy the following records: Special education student temporary records from the years 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016.

 

These records will be destroyed after July 15, 2022. If you wish to obtain a copy of any such records prior to destruction, please contact Special Education Dept. administrative assistant Valerie Ripple at (847) 745-3829 or vripple@sd74.org prior to that date.
