In SD74’s most recent educational endeavor, our second-grade students embarked on a biography project that focused on famous individuals. This group-based project consisted of seven tasks that helped students dive deep into the life and times of their chosen person: early life and education, challenges, achievements, legacy, character traits, timing, and interesting facts.
Throughout this project, students learned important skills such as finding and citing credible sources, understanding plagiarism and working together as a team. They utilized online resources such as PebbleGo and Britannica to gather information and gain a deeper understanding of their chosen person.
Overall, this project was an excellent learning experience for second-grade students. By studying the lives of famous individuals, they gained valuable insights into the qualities and traits that lead to success. They also learned important research skills that will serve them well in future academic endeavors.
