District Retirees Recognized at Board of Education Meeting
At the regular Board of Education meeting on June 6, the District recognized and celebrated the careers of its retirees: Pat Vasis, Instructional Technology Assistant at Rutledge Hall; Jean Catalano, 4th grade teacher at Rutledge Hall; and Catherine Sanders, GATE Reading teacher at Rutledge Hall.
“On one hand, we are thrilled for our colleagues for having reached this pivotal moment in their careers,” Superintendent Dr. David Russo said. “On the other hand, we are saddened to say goodbye to valued teammates whom we have witnessed enrich students' lives in immeasurable ways over the years.”
This year’s cohort of retirees have committed a combined 46 years of their gifts and talents to our District. We wish them heartfelt congratulations for a well-deserved retirement!
At the same meeting, Lincoln Hall principal Mark Atkinson recognized the following middle school students: rising 8th grader Elle S., who won the Lincolnwood Vehicle Sticker Design Contest; rising 8th grader Aamir P., who earned a Gold Certificate at the Illinois Junior Academy of Science and Engineering Fair; rising 8th graders Humza A., Daniel M., Zakir
R., Benjamin K., and Fatima M., who all advanced to the Regional Science Fair; and National Spanish Exam (NSE) winners: Sebastian B. (Gold), Marco K. (Silver), and Aileen C., Destiny G., Isaiah L., Valentina P., and Santiago P. (Honorable Mention). Achieving gold, silver, or bronze status in the NSE allows students to explore various scholarship opportunities provided through the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese Exams program.
Congratulations to these deserving Jaguars!
