Exploring Colors Unit
We had an incredibly enjoyable time taking a dive into the world of colors this week! Our journey began with a beloved classic, 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?' and continued with our exploration of various 'The Day the Crayons...' books.
During our center time activities, we were enthusiastically engrossed in mixing primary colors to create secondary ones. We also learned about the beautiful sequence of colors in the rainbow. To wrap up our colorful week, we had a blast making Fruit Loop necklaces. We counted, grouped, and created color patterns. Additionally, we embarked on exciting color hunts to match classroom items with our chosen colors.
Our students not only shared their favorite colors and their attributes, but also expressed the emotions these colors stirred in them. We also began discussions about how illustrators and artists can sometimes use colors to help connect us to a story they're telling in a book or art.
In writing, we focused on developing proper grip techniques for our writing tools (in this case, crayons). We enhanced our hand-eye coordination through engaging 'aim and scribble' activities. We also dedicated time every day to practicing our alphabet sounds and began our journey of understanding that words are formed by blending individual letter sounds together.
